DUCOM Journal Club
The purpose of this organization is to provide an opportunity for students to develop skills that allow them to critically analyze and evaluate medical literature. The goal is to have student presenters choose a journal article, evaluate its hypothesis, study design, method, and results in a systemic fashion and lead a discussion on the clinical applicability of their chosen article. This organization allows students a venue to appreciate the complexity and difficulty in searching for clinically relevant research topics and to appreciate the process of medical decision making required to generalize the findings of a particular study to a larger population. Students will facilitate a journal club session with guidance from the faculty mentor.
