Start a New Student Group
Are you interested in starting a new student organization? This process is overseen by a committee made up of the Directors of Student Affairs, the Student Affairs Deans, Campus Partners, and the SGA Student Groups Liaison. New Student Organizations will be reviewed on a rolling basis and must complete the following criteria:
- Check DragonLink to ensure a similar group doesn’t already exist at DUCOM
- If a similar group doesn’t already exist, complete the New Student Organization Request Form, which is reviewed by the New Student Organization Committee. To complete this form, please do the following: Go to DragonLink.drexel.edu >Select ‘Organizations’ from the drop down on the left >Click ‘Register an Organization >Scroll to the bottom and click the blue button that says ‘Register a New Organization
- If approved, you will receive communication from the SGA Student Groups Liaison. SGA recognition entitles each organization to:
- A DragonLink page
- $1,000 student group budget for the fiscal year
- Use of the Drexel University College of Medicine name and associated logos or insignia
- Ability to host events
- Ability to reserve space on campus
- Ability to bring outside vendors and speakers to campus via the University’s Contract Process
- Ability to advertise events to the University community
- Participation in campus programming such as the Activities Fair
- Ability to send emails via class listservs
Suggestion: Set up a meeting with Ariel Basch, alg379@drexel.edu (Philadelphia) or Orcel Kounga (West Reading) to discuss a student organization idea or to brainstorm events for your organization
